Cause and effects about the british winning the war
Cause: English colonists ran out of land, they want to move west.French and English both claim the ohio river valley. Native Americans and french are upset that the english colonists moved onto their land.
Effect: War costs a lot of money. The country must pay for soldiers, supplies, weapons, ect. Britain gains control of the ohio valley and other land the French claimed. The new ‘British’ land in the west is full of unhappy Native Americans who just lost a war and some of their land.
British Response: The British made new taxes that the colonists have to pay in order to pay off the war debt. British soldiersmove into French forts in the west. After pontiac’s war, British passed the proclamation of 1763; illegal for colonists to move further west.
Pontiac’s Cause: The tribes involved in pontiac's rebellion believed that the French treated them with honor, hospitality, equality and respect as opposed to the British who believed they were superior to the indians. The tribes viewed the British with great mistrust. The British permitted white settlement on Native American territories.
Effect: He Native Americans tribes had failed to drive away the British but equally the British were unable to conquer the Native American Indians.
Proclamation of 1763
Cause: British leaders feared that more fighting would take place on the frontier if colonists kept moving onto American Indian lands.
Effect: This law banned British settlements west of the appalachian mountains. it also ordered settlers to leave the upper Ohio river valley.
British raise taxes:
Cause: The British victory over the French had come at a high price. Domestic taxes had been raised substantially during the war.
Effect: The American Revolution was precipitated in part by a series of laws passed between 1763 and 1775 that regulating trade and taxes.
